These Women are Changing the World + Look Good Doing It!

“I’m just trying to change the world, one sequin at a time.”

– Lady Gaga

For me, fashion is more than clothing and accessories. Fashion is about expressing creativity and passion. It’s about feeling beautiful and confident and ready to take on the world.

Being a mom of three, my fashion naturally needs to be functional and practical. But, most of all, I want to feel good about myself. I want to feel confident and beautiful.

My personal style is relaxed with a California vibe—even though the West Coast is the only part of the country that I haven’t lived! I have lived on the East coast, in the South and the Midwest. I like a little boho and playing with touches of preppy, artsy (I am an artist after all!) and a bit of glam from time-to-time. I am a firm believer that one style never defines us.

When it comes to fashion, my budget is also a big factor. With a family of five, I need to be realistic. Spending a lot of money on my clothes is just not an option for me. I have three daughters who also have their own unique sense of style whom I’m purchasing clothes for (and I'm sure it will get even crazier as they get older!). Plus, I’m multi-passionate and obsessed with home decor, so I have to allocate some of my budget for that too, right?!

Every woman has her own personal style, and I LOVE finding fashion inspiration from other amazing, talented, world-changing women.

where I find inspiration:

When I’m looking for fashion inspiration, I’m all about fashion icons or influencers whom I can relate to and who feel authentic to me. Maybe the women I love following don’t consider themselves fashion influencers, but it’s their laid-back approach to style and their passion for making the world a better place to live that I’m drawn to. I enjoy following accounts that don’t just post pretty outfits but offer depth and have something valuable to say.

Here are just a few of the the wonderful women I look to for not only fashion inspiration, but for advice, motivation and real world perspective. These ladies are far more than just fashion influencers, they are change-makers…

Rho is a personal stylist. She takes risks and wants fashion to be fun! I especially love Rho's street style and athleisure looks. As a mom of three, she helps other women feel good in their clothes! And if you need a closet clean out - Rho is your girl. She will help you figure out which clothes to keep, which to donate and which pieces to add in order to take your fashion game to the next level! And most of all, she is a great human!!!

“Our clothing can certainly be a metaphor for life. If the style, fit, or function is off, we know just how good it feels when we make changes and they reflect our true selves.” – RHO

There is just something about Lisa that draws you in. She is real. She is adorable. Her work ethic is one to be admired. Lisa is the creator behind Prim + Clove, a business offering gorgeous hand-made leather goods that are made ethically by female owned companies. I just love Lisa's everyday fashion style, all the while raising three small children and one more on the way! She is a trail-blazer—always championing other women.

“I’m on a mission to turn thinking and feeling into doing. To spread love and joy. To turn insecurities, criticisms, and struggles into strengths. And to lead a happy, healthy life.” ~ LISA

Reshma - the creator behind Hello Lavender - is a ridiculously talented fiber artist with killer style. You can usually find her draped in mustard yellow (her signature color) and running off a steady intake of coffee. Reshma exudes beauty from the inside-out. I absolutely love her style - I mean who else can say they have a signature color?! And most of all - she is an advocate for women and racial equality.

"My desire is to live a life with fiber, knitting, and art at the center. The whole idea behind art is to create something out of nothing. Hello Lavender is my something." ~ RESHMA

Although I am not very tall, I love following Jenilee and Caitlin. These tall sisters from Wisconsin (6’4” and 5’11”) have a passion for fashion. These ladies exude confidence while sharing so many great looks that can be worn on a daily basis. Jenilee and Caitlin seek out pieces that fit us correctly and fit our budgets realistically...an added bonus. I mean - look how beautiful they are!

“We know how life is as tall women and we are here to be an encouragement to any of our tall sisters who might be in need. We plan to keep it real (hence the name) and authentic so you know we aren’t saying one thing and doing another.” JENILEE + CAITLIN

I am obsessed with Studio McGee for home decor ideas, but I also love Shea McGee’s style. She always looks so casually put together while being super relatable. Shea is a mom AND an amazing entrepreneur who is killing it! The girl can rock a floral dress and layered necklaces! (BTW: We’ve got an amazing blog post coming up about layering necklaces without the tangled mess!) And she has a new home decor line at Target — I snagged a few pieces myself!

“I’ve been collecting them (necklaces) and just like bracelets and pillows, I like to layer them, all of them all at once. I’m absolutely loving this look right now.” ~ Shea Mcgee

Mattie James is not only gorgeous, she’s also real and down to earth. Mattie talks about her lifestyle, fashion, and being a mom of three. She’s got amazing style and she shares her great fashion finds. She also adds in a wellness aspect which really resonates with me. AND - she speaks up for justice.

“Living well includes having an intentional work-life balance, but I do believe that a lot of the joy in our lives comes from the work that we do. We’ll talk about processes and how to approach work with a willingness to finish strong. I love this mindset because it applies to everything from blogging to having a corporate gig.”
~ Mattie

Wendy Euler calls herself an “Age Activist”. She’s in her 50s and shows that you can be fabulous over 50! Her message speaks to me and I absolutely love her style. She is a positive and uplifting voice for any age. Give her a follow, you won’t be disappointed.

“It’s about understanding the beauty and the wisdom that comes with age. Embracing and fully putting your arms around exactly where you are in life. Goodbye Crop Top is a place where women can come and understand how beautiful it is just to be...to be your age but do it with gumption, with strength, and to look damn good in the process.” ~ WENDY

Lindsey is entertaining and so funny! I love her style. She shares relatable easy-going fashion at all price points. Lindsey is a mom of four boys, and her style is down-to-earth and approachable. She encourages us to feel like our best selves, and I just love how genuine she comes across.

“Motherhood isn’t always glamorous, but there is no shame in trying. We deserve to feel great about ourselves and if I can introduce you to some cute new booties or a dramatic poofy skirt or a cheeky sweatshirt that makes you feel like a rockstar mom, well, then my work is done.” ~LINDSEY

Who Run the World? Girls!
